NAME

The Code Name Laurentians

The Code Name Laurentians represent the latest project from Toronto songwriter and musician, Royal Nasager. After an extended period pursuing solo projects abroad and at home, 2003 saw Royal return to the city’s music scene with the assembly of the Code Name Laurentians. The new outfit features: Taylor Kirk (Pine Music), Adam Cotton, Phoebe Lee (the Diableros), and local artist Charlie Black (Mystic Pkwy).
2004 brought the realization of the Code Name Laurentians vision and aesthetic through their first, full-length release. “Tiger,” a forty-five minute collection of innovative compositions, has been marked as an outstanding achievement in new music. Written by Royal during the past year and recorded over the last six months, this album represents a culmination of sounds and musical values. Seeking to capture the sensibility and compression of modern radio and the integrity of producers like Brian Eno, “Tiger” looks to offer a multitude of dimensions and dynamics.
The Code Name Laurentians have been likened to the Band played really fast, torch bearers of the Magnetic Fields legacy and a latter-day Kinks. Influences and inspiration come from such artists as, Nick Lowe, Barry Gibb, and Television. Future plans for the group include further releases of music and live shows as necessity mandates.

*The latest album "Tiger," is available at Soundscapes in Toronto.
