Grainne Ryan

The first thing you need to know about Grainne is how to say her name and what it means. It's pronounced grawn-ya, it's an old Irish name and in English it means Grace.

Although not officially released in Toronto yet, Grainne's new CD, All The Money, is already getting some attention from Europe and the United States. Music critic Freddy Celis of Rootstime calls it a "must have for those who melt listening to Aimee Mann, Lucinda Williams (and) Sarah Harmer". Grainne's catchy melodies and smart lyrics are wrapped with the "inter-play of the pedal steel guitar, piano, banjo, (and) electric guitar". She has some fine Canadian and American talent on board this project: Chris Brown on keys, Jason Mercer on bass and banjo, Drew Glackin on E. Guitar and Pedal Steel, and Corey Richardson on Drums. Singer/Songwriter Ana Egge sings haunting back-up vocals on the second track on the album, Brace Yourself. The album was produced and engineered by Chris "Lurch" Rudyk if Broadcast Lane Studios, Toronto and NYC. Critics are calling All The Money, an "intimate masterpiece" and "a great suprise" !! Fans can purchase the CD via her official website, as well as through most digital distributors. It can also be ordered through iTUNES, Chapters/Indigo, HMV/Amazon and CD Baby (coming soon).

Grainne says she "loves recording and loves writing", but what she loves to do the most is perform live. Whether it be solo or with a full band, Grainne says "there is nothing like seeing the audience face to face .... making that connection & hearing them sing along". You can catch her live here at C'est What on Wed April 4th, for SPEAK-Music's anniversary party and artist showcase, as well as on Wed April 25th, with Hotcha!
