It all started with Catch a Falling Star - 4 years old, sitting beside her father at the piano, learning to play and sing.
She's been on stage since the age of five, whether it be singing, acting or playing piano. School, church, and local competitions were the training ground for this young talent where she cultivated both classical and popular music.
It was in a classical composition class that she was introduced to the idea of writing her own music. She soon began composing on piano and singing with various folk and pop/rock groups in Winnipeg - doing tours, recording, and performing many club dates.
Her move to Toronto forced her to become more independent musically. "I didn't have a band anymore, and I certainly didn't want to wait around not performing!" So she worked on her multi-dextrosity and soon became a solo performing act, playing all the clubs in Toronto, sharing the stage with Leslie Feist, sara & tegan, Kurt Swinghammer, Don Kerr, Ember Swift, and others. She was the original "wurli-girl" - mixing the vintage vibe of her Wurlitzer with beats she programmed herself on her MPC. She garnered much interest and support in what she was doing and got the opportunity to record with some of the top producers and players in Canada. She also taught herself to play guitar, bass, and drums and has used those skills to do her own recording for film, television, dance, and an accompanying cd for a children's book.
In search of new influences she re-located to Montréal, Québec. This move gave her the freedom to spend time in New York as well as Toronto while paying cheaper rent and learning French.
It was on a visit to New York that she caught the interest of a hip-hop producer there. After battling a Bustah-style mc in a Manhattan club - and winning - she was in the studio in the Bronx the very next day and subsequently recorded 10 demo tracks.
Focusing right now on producing her next album, and releasing a single at a time, she's busy recording, recording, recording...
