 Lori CullenIf you don't already know about Lori Cullen there may be some confusion. Is she a folky singer/songwriter or is she a jazz singer? Well, the answer is both.Singing and writing her own songs since 1992, Cullen has taken great care to craft the words and music of each song. Sitting somewhere between folk and pop, echoes of Rickie Lee Jones, Joni Mitchell and Jane Siberry can sometimes be heard as Lori hopes it all comes together as a personal representation. Her first full length cd Garden Path was released in 2000. This collection of songs is a clear and simple representation of what Cullen can do with only her voice and guitar. Tender and exposed and at the same time full of textured confidence, the results are angelic pop deconstructions defying labels such as folk, jazz and "singer/songwriter". Currently in the last stages of recording her new cd and prepping for a March 2003 release, Lori Cullen has carved a spot on the local Toronto scene as something of a phenomenon contact Lori here |
