Michael Johnston"Michael Johnston's debut cd takes me on a riverboat ride to the other side. He's got the groove to prove it, the chops to cook it, and licks to give you the kicks. Stories, style and swing. That's the thing. The man can play the 88 bones and moan out the jones. I wouldn't lie." - Dave Clark (Gord
Downie, Woodchoppers Association)
Having had the opportunity to open for Barenaked Ladies, lend his voice to the Rheostatics and playing duelling
accordions with Bob Wiseman; Johnston has found himself a part of the in crowd on the CanRock scene.
Blending lyrical songwriting with a melodic roots/pop sensibility, Johnston describes his style as "canadian winter soul". A gifted songwriter and passionate performer, he's as comfortable settling into a Keith Jarret cover as he is rockin' the roots from the rafters bashing out one of his own manic tunes.
