Michael Pickett
"The
best harmonica player in the city
in Canada
maybe the best in North America." ~ John Dickie,
Q107
Michael
Pickett has been a major force in the blues scene for over
thirty years. As a key player in seminal bands Whiskey Howl
and Wooden Teeth, Pickett helped forge the Toronto blues
sound. The Michael Pickett Band has performed at Massey
Hall, The Village Gate in New York, and the Montreal
International Jazz Festival. Pickett has also shared the
stage with Taj Mahal, John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, and Big
Mama Thornton, to name just a few.
Now
Pickett's gritty, true to the blues vocals and razor sharp
harp have been captured on Blues Money, co-produced with
Doug Romanow. The CD features twelve original tunes with
support from Juno award winning guitarist Colin Linden,
vocalist Molly Johnson, guitar player Neil Chapman, keyboard
player Richard Bell (The Band), guitarist Teddy Leonard
(Fathead), and Hammond B-3 meister Doug Reily.
