Songdog Formerly Jellymoulds, Songdog are a powerful rock band headed by award winning playwright Lyndon Morgans. They've received strong airplay in London and have played Glastonbury and NXNE. PRESS RELEASE Songdog's music is an eclectic and original mixture of pop noir and alt country (think Tom Waits via Radiohead and Bob Dylan), shot through with a dark, romantic lyricism reminiscent of Jacques Brel in its earthy subject matter. The Cold Coffee & Ava Gardner EP is an intriguing little vignette of lost love, bitterness and passion. The wistfulness of the opening song Goodbye Isabel segues seamlessly into the recriminatory title track, which leads us to the full-blown pychosis of track three, Piranha Quickstep, finally simmering down to resignation and perhaps redemption in Jezebel. Songdog was formed in 1998 by Welsh vocalist/songwriter Lyndon Morgans, with guitarist Karl Woodward, drummer Dave Paterson and keyboardist Robert Lesniewski. UK dates in the past year have included supports for 10,000 Maniacs, The Gourds, The Handsome Family, Johnny Dowd, Hal Ketchum, Willard Grant Conspiracy, All About Eve, Jolene and a tour with Hugh Cornwell. This year Songdog is represented at NXNE by Morgans alone. |
