Small Batch Bourbons Poster

Small Batch Challenge

Wednesday March 24, 1999

The Americans are vying for world whiskey supremacy but Canada will not give in without a fight. When Baker's, Basil Hayden's, Booker's, Knob Creek, and Woodford Reserve bourbons made an appearance at our latest whiskey tasting they had to withstand a challenge from Lot 40, Gooderham & Worts, and Pike Creek, three small batch Canadian whiskies.

While the bourbons generally came out ahead of the Canadian whiskies in this tasting they have been perfecting the art of barrel ageing a little longer than their Canadian counterparts.

If the words Canadian whisky conjures up the image of a mickey bottle of Five Star then the favourable scores show that you should try out the new small batch series which has a style much closer to single malts than something to spice up the flavour of pop.

Scores posted are the group median.
